Fission Track Workshop, Pisa, Italy
IGCP Project 543 ”Thermochron” WORKSHOP I: Fission-track Analysis
September 27-28, 2007, Pisa (Italy)
The IGCP project 543 "Low-temperature thermochronology and its applications: world-wide transfer of knowledge and inter-laboratory calibration" has been recently funded by Unesco. The project will last four years and will start in the late September with a workshop focussed on fission-track analysis. The workshop will be preceded by a short-course on this technique (September 25-26), particularly helpful for people who are setting up new laboratories or for students. According to IGCP mission, we will support the participation of students from developing and emerging countries.
As the first international meeting (1980), the workshop will be held in Pisa (Italy) hosted by the National Research Council (Institute of Earth Sciences and Earth Resources). Several topics will be discussed such as age and length standards, etching procedures, annealing models and new analytical techniques. No formal presentations with abstract submission as in conferences are expected but we will organize a series of round tables about methodological issues.
All the information will be available on the website of the workshop (http://www.geomin.unibo.it/ft/workshop.htm) but you are invited to post comments and ideas to the dedicated OnTrack forum.
For any question, please contact the organising committee.
Please note the following deadlines:
20 August 2007: Deadline for registration
20 July 2007: Deadline for student application
